1948年,王昆仑把他从1944年开始陆续发表红楼梦人物研究的论文,并于1948年积集出版的《红楼梦人物论》,以独特视角对红楼梦人物进行研究,通过必然的逻辑性展示出很强的思想性,揭示了国民党政权在大陆即将灭亡的命运;以对产生红楼梦人物性格和行为的典型环境的独到分析,通过艺术手段比附社会现实,影射了国民党统治的专制本质;以精辟语言解析红楼梦中典型人物的心灵世界,用美学元素缀就华衣伪装锐利的思想武器,使人们在潜移默化中萌发推翻旧世界的强烈愿望。

Wang Kun-lun published his book ＂Characters in Dream of the Red Chamber＂ in 1948 which contains his series of papers about characters in ＂Dream of the Red Chamber＂ from 1944. In this book, he reveals the fate that Kuomintang power will be certain to perish in the main land from a unique angle. He also insinuates the autocratic nature of Kuomintang government, by analyzing the typical environment in which the personalities get formed in ＂Dream of Red Chamber＂ , and by reflecting social realities through artistic means.
