摘要
系统功能语言学认为语法隐喻是书面语的核心。本文以系统功能语言学的语法隐喻和词汇密度、语法密度为参照,对高校英语专业学生的议论文作文进行了定量和定性分析,研究结果表明,中国英语学习者作文质量与语法隐喻能力密切相关,作文质量与概念语法隐喻和语篇语法隐喻能力正相关,与人际语法隐喻负相关;词汇密度与议论文写作质量正相关,语法密度与议论文写作质量负相关;语法隐喻能力可以揭示英语学习者的作文质量,语法隐喻能力的培养有利于提高作文写作质量。
According to Systemic Functional Linguistics, grammatical metaphor ( GM ) is characteristic of written production. Then how is Chinese EFL learners'argumentative writing quality related to their ability of GM? Based on the theory of GM, this paper employs corpus analysis of the English majors'writing and the findings of the study indicate: 1 ) the quality of Chinese EFL learners'argumentative writing is closely related to their ability of GM; 2) ideational GM and Textual GM are positively correlated with the learners' writing quality while interpersonal GM is negatively correlated with the writing quality; 3 ) lexical density is positively correlated with writing quality, ideational GM and textual GM while negatively correlated with interpersonal GM and grammatical intricacy; 4) the ability of GM is the indicator of the writing quality and the development of GM ability will surely help improve the quality of Chinese EFL learners'written production.
