Analysis on Violent Manipulation in Chinese and Western Translation

传统的翻译理论注重标准的厘定及其对标准的遵守,但翻译中所体现的政治和意识形态以及翻译实践中的暴力操纵对翻译的"忠实"原则给予了无情的解构。因此,探讨翻译背后的暴力问题、译者在其间的特殊身份以及减轻暴力操纵的方法是译介研究的一个重要论题。

Translation theory has traditionally emphasized the establishment of translation criteria and the compliance to it in translating practice. Yet the polities and ideology involved in translation and the subsequent violent manipulation in practice often lead to the departure from the criteria such as ＂faithfulness＂. Thus giving discussion on the violence behind translation, and the translator＇s special identity as well as the strategies to the mitigation of violent manipulation becomes an important proposition in translation studies.
