Reconsiderations on the Traditional Theory of Associative Compounds

运用科学的方法,广泛占有古文字材料,不囿于许慎的"六书"框架,对古文字现象进行具体的分析和科学的总结,可以发现传统会意字理论在名称、构件、分类、外延以及文化衍射等方面仍然存在诸多疑点和漫混之处。

On the basis of many ancient writings and works, we have conducted concrete analyses and have drawn scientific conclusions on ancient Chinese characters within XU Shen＇s ＂Hexateuch Theory＂. The findings show that there are still a lot of doubts and fallacies in the traditional Theory of Associative Compounds in terms of names, components, classifications, extension and cultural reflection.
