Animal metaphor is commonly seen in every country＇s language system. Its formation is closely related to people＇s metaphorical thought, which is in fact a cognitive process of things. This thesis will discuss cognitive basis of animal metaphor, and further explain semantic change of animal metaphor and the close relation between its semantic change and cognition, thus offer a new research perspective in this field.
