Yoshimoto Banana is reputed as a writer with ＂Shoujo （young girls） Awareness＂, and her novels are permeated with new elements which differ from those in traditional literature, hence making the author a representative of the modem Japanese women＇s literature. Identifying the deep relationship of Yoshimoto Banana with manga, especially with shoujo manga as a point of penetration, this paper discusses the theme, structure, character design and langnage in Yoshimoto＇s novels.
