摘要
Phytoplankton are classfied into three groups based on size: microphytoplankton (>20 μm), nanophytoplankton (2-20 μm), and picophytoplankton (<2 μm) (Sieburth et al. 1978) [1]. Picophytoplankton are composed of three groups: Prochlorococcus, Synechococcus, and picophytoeukaryotes. The former two are unicellular cyanobacteria.
