Simonds specifically expatiates on the theories, methods and guidelines of landscape architecture, site planning and design, combines science with art to consider the principle of ＂design following nature＂, and finally puts forward the standpoint that planning is not the final form, space or visualization, not a place or an object, but a planning experience, a humanistic experience. Through summarizing and thinking over the main points of this bookmaking, this article further elaborates on the understanding of experience, the ways and means achieved from experience, the significance that experience integrated into design, the dialectical relation between experiencing thinking and design subject and object, i.e. people and places, and eventually probes into the significance and enlightenment of experiencing design theories and methods on contemporary landscape architecture practices.
