Expecting Harmony——An analysis of the pursuit of value in the novel by Yuan Rencong

侗族作家袁仁琮的小说创作有明确的价值追求。以上个世纪九十年代为界,前期的作品一体化的痕迹比较明显,后面的作品则有独立的价值追求。尽管九十年代后作家的创作环境宽松了,但袁仁琮没有放弃自己的社会责任,在他的小说中,他关注弱势群体,致力于社会和谐,严以律己,脚踏实地地以自己的方式为社会奉献才智,自觉地充当着和谐社会守望者的角色。

The novel by Yuan Rencong, an Dong writer, displayed a strong color of pursuing value. To the 1990＇s, his previous works show a clear mark of integration; however, after that period, his works focus more on the pursuing of value. Though the writers in the post-1990＇s have less restricted areas for creation, Yuan does not give up his social responsibility. In his novels, he shows his concerns for the weak group of the people in society. He pursues social harmony, is strict with himself, and works hard to contribute his wisdom to the society in his own way. He acts as a guard for social harmony voluntarily.
