The Japanese transcript of Jing Tian Gai preserved in Beijing Library is very different from all extnat versions of the same work ever found within China. It turned out to be a more complete version, with not only more verses but also more constellations. A set of star maps appended to it are also missing from any other version available in China. Since they are quite different from the star maps in the Chongzhen Calendar in some important aspects, their source deserves further exploration. In addition, according to the signature of the transcript, the author of Jing Tian Gai is prodably Wang Yinglin, who was once a member of the Calendrical Bureau of Xu Guangqi.
