晁错“贱金玉”的原因及其危害

Cause and Hazard of Chao Cuo’ Despises the Gold and Jade as the Currency

晁错主张"贱金玉",他认为使用货币不利于忠于皇权的教育,不利于君民距离的缩小,不利于以农为本的自然经济的巩固,不利于守边官兵战斗力的提高,不利于社会秩序的安定,且不如"粟米布帛"的实用价值高。"贱金玉"的直接目的是"以粟为赏罚,""入粟县官(即朝廷),得以拜爵,得以除罪"。其危害非常严重,开了历史的倒车,不仅扼杀了农民的生产积极性,而且开了卖官买官的恶劣先例。

Why did Chao Cuo despise the gold and jade as he currency？ Because the gold and jade were used as the currency at that time. He believed that currency was not conducive to the education of being loyal to imperial court; or not conducive to shortening the gap between emperor and the people; or not conducive to the consolidation of natural agricultural-based economy; or not conducive to the improvement of combating effectiveness of the officers and soldiers who defended the frontier; or not conducive to the stability of social order ;or lower than practical value of food and clothing. The direct purpose of despising on gold and jade were usedas food for reward and punishment, such as to be awarded as official or to be dismissed by the crime. This opinion was wrong, the hazard might bring historical retrogression, hinder the enthusiasm of the farmers, and open a bad precedent of deals of official.
