沈从文笔下的《边城》有着浓厚的水崇拜观念,作品中的水意象非常突出。其中的核心人物形象"翠翠",其性格特征、情感经历以及最后的悲剧命运,都与水有关。可以说,清灵而坚韧、安静而活泼,带有忧郁色彩的"翠翠"形象是水意象营造下的产物。

Shen Congwen＇s ＂Border Town＂ has a strong sense of water-worshiping. The water works in a very prominent image. One of the core characters ＂Cuicui＂, whose character, emotional experience as well as her final tragic fate are all related with water. It can be said that Cuicui＇s image which is delicate but tough, quiet but lively, and of a melancholy flavor, is a product created by an artistic conception of water.
