The paper discusses the problems and drawbacks in selecting load cable for cable crane, and analyzes the impact of some theories and methods of designing load cable, such as the concentrated load＇s suspension and parabola theories, admissible load design method, upon load cable. It also carries out load analysis of load cable by means of catenary theory and determines key calculating process based on it and then develops load cable selecting system by CAD. It makes cable crane design easier.
