On the Values Embodied in Hemingway' Works

海明威是20世纪世界文坛极具个性的作家。他孤独、困惑、悲观和勇敢的个性特质直接影响着他创作思想的形成,体现在他的价值取向上。海明威鲜明独特的创作思想与价值取向是紧密联系在一起的,一方面,他的创作思想本身即体现了一定的世界观、人生观和价值观;另一方面,价值取向不仅是他创作思想的直接表现形式,而且集中体现了他的复杂的个性特质。在阐述作家创作的价值取向时,重点分析了海明威创作的硬汉生存方式以及多元伦理价值观。

Ernest Hemingway was a writer with a particular individuality in the world literature of the twentieth century. His idiosyncratic personality such as loneliness, perplexity, pessimism and bravery has exerted an important influence on the formation of his creative thought and his orientation of values. The article considers that Hemingway＇s distinctive creative thought is closely interwoven with his orientation of values. On one hand, his thought of creation presents certain outlook and values; on the other hand, the orientation of values is not only a direct manifestation of his creative thought but also a concentrative representation of his complicated personality. Therefore, this article, while illustrating the orientation of values in the author＇s works, explores into the existence of Hemingway＇s heroes and the mufti-values of ethics.
