二十世纪六十年代,正是西方后现代主义酝酿之际,各种文艺思潮纷纷涌现。桑塔格在此时发表了《反对阐释》、《论风格》、《关于"坎普"的札记》等多篇文章,后结集出版命名为《反对阐释》。在这些文章当中,桑塔格提出了新的批评理论,在文坛上引起了极大的轰动;同时,她为先锋文化摇旗助威,她也因此成为新型文化的代言人。桑塔格留学法国的学习经历和美国当时的文化背景这两个因素相互作用,促使桑塔格最终成为新型文化的代言人。
Various aesthetic trends had emerged in the 1960s when the postmodernism had being come into being. In this period Susan Sontag had published such articles as Against Interpretation, On Style, and Notes on Camp, ere, all of which had been compiled into a book named Against Interpretation. Susan Sontag's articles and book had caused a great sensation in the literary critical world because she had put a new critical theory. She herself became a spokesman of the new culture. This paper attempts to describe the possibility of her being a spokesman, contacting with historical background and cultural circles in which she involved.
