Viewed from the living environment, family education and the struggle for marriage freedom, the paper examines the differences and similarities between CUI Yingying and DU Liniang, whose different images are further discussed from the endings of the play and from the two companion servant-girls of the heroines. The conclusion, therefore, is drawn that DU Liniang is a bit more defiant in her attempt against feudalism than CUI Yingying.
