Wool modification with pretreatment can reduce dyeing temperature, enhance the dyeing properties and save energy. Several kinds of pretreatment methods and mechanism of wool low temperature dyeing are introduced, including organic amine pretreatment, ammonia/salt pretreatment, biology enzyme pretreatment, oxidation pretreatment, low temperature plasma pretreatment, electromagnetic wave radiation pretreatment, microwave pretreatment etc.
