Zhang Ailing always describes clothing color by simulating natural material in her novels. There are mainly six kinds of methods about simulation as follows： naming clothing color with natural animal color, with natural mineral color,with other non-livingthings color and with people＇s i- magination of objective color. By explaining and analysing the clothing color in Zhang Ailing＇s novel, it elaborates the important sense of simulating natural material in modern colothing design.
