The Implications of OEPT and English001T at Purdue University on the Spoken English Teaching in Universities of Science in China

摘要 本文作者通过赴美国普渡大学英语系访学,研究了普渡大学的口语测试OEPT(Oral English Proficiency Test)和英语课程English001T,分析了中国理工科大学学生在OEFY中反映出来的口语表达方面的问题,并提出了对国内理工科大学的英语课程设置进行改革的设想,阐述了基于Internet网络聊天用于发展学生口语表达能力的理论支持,提出了在理工科大学开设口语课程的建议。 Based on her observation and on-spot experience as a visiting scholar, the writer studied Oral English Proficiency Test(OEPT) and English001T at Purdue University in the USA. In this paper the author analyzes the problems of Chinese students in oral English which are exposed in OEPT and mainly puts forward some constructive suggestions on the reform of the present college English teaching, such as the setting of oral English class. Especially, the paper elaborates the theoretical support for the potential of Intemet-based chatting in developing students' oral English ability.
