The author discusses that the research progress on the Al2O3 coatings on the steel in the paper. Some preparation technologies of Al2O3 coatings including spray and sol--gel and their features are introduced on emphasis. The＇ existing problem and the future study direction of Al2O3 coatings are presented in the end.
