Language standardization presupposes a choice of the language. The standardization of the legal language in ancient China presupposes the standardization of writing style. The study of the standardization of writing style in ancient China is not to be separated from the historical process of social development that the style accompanies. That is why we discuss the question with ＂history＂ all through the article.
