民俗是以实际生活为基础的生活文化积淀,某种程度上一个地区的民俗变迁反映了这个地区社会的变迁过程及程度。近代中国是一个转型的社会,它必然引发民俗变迁,而河北省(清时称直隶)在整个清王朝及近代社会,无论政治、经济、文化都处于一个特殊的地位,所以其民俗变迁即有着很强的代表性又有其特殊性。

Folk custom is formation of life and culture, which is based on the real life. To some extent, the evolution of folk custom in the district reflects the process and degree of social transformation. China of the modern times （1840-1949） is in a state of experiencing changes which is bound to trigger off the changes of folk custom. And Hebei （called Zhili in Qing Dynasty） remained a special position both in the ruhng process of Qing Dynasty and neoteric China no matter in politic, economic or culture fields. Therefore, the changes of folk custom in Heboi have not only outstanding representativenesses but also special values （a strong representativeness and peculiarity）.
