Platform and History:Potential Space for Interpretation of Texts

本文依据对特里·伊格尔顿的访谈录"我的平台是整个世界"及其文章"我们必须永远历史化吗?",努力从空间上揭示其研究平台的两层意义:一是范围涉及整个世界和各个学科的交叉,二是批评融合各种观点和批评视角;然后从时间上指出,特里·伊格尔顿批评的历史观是包含发生和接受在内的意识形态的历史语境,而且更加重视动态的接受语境;最后揭示了特里·伊格尔顿给予我们的启示:文学和文化批评的任务应该主要在于发掘文学和文化文本的可阐释空间。

Based on the interview with Terry Eagleton ＂My Platform is the Whole World＂ and Eagleton＇ s article ＂Should We Always Be Historicized？＂, two dimensions of Eagleton＇ s research platform are revealed： on the one hand, Eagleton＇ s research deals with cross-disciplinary studies and involves the whole world; on the other hand, his criticism integrates a variety of viewpoints and critical perspectives. Eagleton＇ s historical perspective of criticism is studied in historical context of ideology including its occurence and reception, with stronger emphasis given to the dynamic context of reception. What Terry Eagleton enlightens us is that the main task of literary and cultural criticism is to explore the potential space for the interpretation of literary and cultural texts.
