Schema theory provides the theoretical basis and practical guidance for college English reading teaching and research. In the process of teaching, a teacher should try his best to activate his students＇ existing schematic knowledge, create new schematic knowledge for them and foster the students＇ comprehension of the reading materials by means of applying formal schemata.
