社会意识是马克思主义哲学的一个基本范畴,马克思在创立马克思主义哲学过程中经常使用,恩格斯、列宁、斯大林、毛泽东对其进行了不同程度的发展。社会意识的结构主要有两层次划分理论和三层次划分理论;社会意识的功能主要包括反映社会存在的功能,维护和批判现实的功能,调控社会和人的活动的功能和创新功能。

Social consciousness is the basic conception in the Marxist philosophy. Marx used it a lot when he was developing the theory of Marxist philosophy, and then Engels, V.I.Lenin, S.V.Stalin and Mao Tsetung had developed it to different levels. The construction of the Social Consciousness includes the two-level theory and three-level theory; the function of it is mainly that it reflects the social existence, maintaining and criticizing the reality, and regulating the activities of society and people, and the function of creativity.
