The types and causes of diseases in rigid retaining walls of highways in mountainous area are introduced, and then some reinforcement methods aiming at different diseases are proposed. Taking Yu-Chang Highway as an engineering example, the causes and reinforcement methods of cracks in a high rigid retaining wall on the highway from Chongqing to Changshou are analyzed. Some problems, which should be paid large attention to in treating diseases of the rigid retaining structures of the highway in mountainous areas are discussed.
