凡一平的小说风格颇为多样。诗化的乡村小说,善于用诗化手法描写乡村常态生活,人物形象追求非个性化,着重表现人在食、性等基本生存层面的挣扎。世俗化的城市小说,反映现代城市人的精神困惑,叙事性、可读性强,但是小说迎合市场,有庸俗化倾向。新历史主义小说,颠覆主流意识形态和宏大叙事,但是反叛有余,建设不足。

Fan Yiping＇ s novel styles are quite varied, His village novels describe rural daily life by poetry methods, and try to reveal people struggling for food and sex. The characters＇ images in these novels possess the characteristics of de-individuality. His city novels reflect the suffering spirit of modern urban people. But some of them meet the needs of markets, with the tendency of vulgarization. His new historicism novels subvert the mainstream ideology and grand narrative. Though they have valuable deconstruction, these novels lacked construction.
