黄孟文在其"毛果山"系列微型小说中肆意地铺张着"大中华文化的幻象";他虽然迷失在中华文化的幻象之中,但同时,他已经开始在对"异邦"的反思中重新认识自身的文化境遇,在两难选择的矛盾心态中寻找身份的认同,并进行文化的自我定位。黄孟文文化选择的困境是华裔在新加坡多元文化生态中的必然遭遇。

Huang Mengwen expressed the fantasy of Chinese classical culture in the novelette of The Maoguo Hill. He was deluded by the fantasy, but he acquainted himself with the conception of other countries. The culture identity is complex and contradictory in Singapore. Huang Menwen＇s puzzlement was the experience of overseas Chinese in Singapore＇s multi-culture.
