Objective To observe the antifatigue effect of a sport milk drink on mice, so as to provide scientific basis for developing a new functional antifatigue drink. Methods Mice were randomly divided into 5 groups:3 groups treated with sport milk drink of 2.5,5, 10 g/kg bw respectively, control group with purified water, and ordinary milk group. The solution was administered to the mice with a daily dose of 0.2 mL/10 g bw for 30 d. Load swimming test was then carried out. And serum urea, blood lactic acid as well as liver glycogen level were measured. Results The average load swimming time in low and medium dose treated groups [ (425 ± 117) s, (410 ± 89) s respectively ] was longer than that in control group [ (243± 60)s, P 〈 0.05 ]. Serum urea concentration in treated groups [ (7.41 ± 1.11 ) mmol/L, (7.44± 1.80)mmol/L respectively] was lower than that in control group [(9.01 ±1.29)mmol/L, P 〈0.05]. Liver glycogen content was significantly higher in 3 treated groups [ (0.37 ± 0.09)mg/g, (0.40 ±0.14) mg/g, and (0.35 ± 0.11) mg/g respectively] than in control group [(0.17±0.07) mg/g, P 〈0.05) Blood lactic acid level [( 2.90±1.02)mmol/L] in low dose treated group was lower than that in control group [(3.71 ±1.51)mmol/L, P 〈0.05 ]. Conclusion The sport milk drink could improve sport endurace and relieve fatigue to some extent.
