Language Functions and Language Value

语言结构、交际和社会文化三个方面的功能构成了相互依存的互动功能系统。从语言结构的价值观看,人类语言只有结构和形式上的差异,没有"发达"与"原始"、"复杂"和"简单"之分,更没有"优秀"与"低劣"之别。从语言社会文化价值观看,人类不同民族、不同语言以及不同的文化和文明,都有其存在的理由和价值,只有通过渐进的、和谐共处的方式进行有效的交流和沟通,才能真正把人类的社会文明不断推向前进。从语言研究的价值观看,各种语言变体都有重要的研究价值;研究方法的不同价值取向,会影响语料获取的路径以及对语言事实的解释。

The functions of language structure, communication and social culture constitute the interactive and interdependent functional system. From the value of language structure, human＇ s lanugages merely have the distinction on structures and forms, rather than on the ＂progress＂ and ＂primitiveness＂, ＂complexity＂ and ＂simplicity＂, not mention ＂superiority＂ and ＂inferiority＂. From the perspective of social and cultural value of language, different ethic groups, languages, cultures and civilizations have their reasons and value of being existent. Only through the gradual, hamonious and compatible communication, will human＇ s social civilization be prorooted continuously. There is research significance to all kind of language variation from the value of language study. Different orientations of research methodology will have impact on the way of data collection and the explanation of linguistic facts.
