The principle, sort and the preparation method of organic--inorganic hybrid materials prepared via sol- gel process were introduced. The methods for measuring the properties and the application of the hybrid materials were summarized. These new type materials possessed excellent properties and vast exploration and application value in high technology fields in the future.
