Analysis of the National Interests of the Relationship between Indonesia and the United States in Suharto's Presidency

苏哈托时期的印尼与美国关系是影响东亚地区重要的双边关系。回顾两国关系发展的历程,其关系紧密却并不平稳。从国家利益的角度考察,以生死攸关利益和两国的价值观念为主要依据分析两国关系的发展,以及美国在对印尼关系中重点考虑的利益的变化,认为决定两国关系最根本的因素是国家利益,它贯穿两国关系发展的始终。

The bilateral relationship between Indonesia and the United States in Suharto＇s presidency is the important relation which has a great effect in the East Asian region. Looking back the development course of bilateral relations, their close relationship didn＇t develop smoothly. From the perspective of national interests, the paper analyzes the development of bilateral relations and the interest changes which the Unites States is mostly concern about in terms of its relation to the Indonesia on the basis of vital interests and values. The paper proposes that the most fundamental factor of the relations between Indonesia and the United States is the national interest, which carries over through the development of bilateral relations.
