“四灵”是西汉晚期以来汉镜构图中使用最多、流播最广、形制最易辨识、配组最为稳定规范的一类物像,所谓“四灵”是指代表东、西、南、北四方方位的青龙、白虎、朱雀、玄武四种动物,本系古代天象范畴中的四方神灵,亦称“四神”,
Four-deity was used mostly and widely-broadcast, and its shape was easy to identify and its match was the most stable in the mir-ror structure history since the late Western Han dynasty. In this paper, based on the situations and matching characters of the four-deity, the mirror can be divided into three categories, and the author discusses the social background, the connotation and recognition issues of the mirror.
