Network popular symbols, as a special language form, have their own rules for creating new forms. This paper mainly discusses the process of encoding and decoding network popular symbols and its characterization, namelyiconity, aswell as the diversity and differences oficonity. The paper also proposes that different cognitive approaches will lead to the final diversity in decoding the network popular symbols.
