Discussion on Political and Military Administrative Strategy in Western Regions in Early Tang Dynasty

唐代前期,西域地区所包括的地域空前扩大,所涉及的国家和民族也大为增多。极其复杂的国家和民族关系,使唐前期对西域政治军事经略面临着一系列新的根本性特点,唐采取了一系列适应这些特点的政治军事政策和策略。唐前期对西域经略,有效地保障了唐朝西部的安全,提高了唐的国际地位,促进了中外经济文化交流。但也带来了沉重的财政负担,造成了府兵制的破坏并为藩镇割据埋下了祸根。

At the prophase of ＇Fang Dynasty, the Western Regions expanded unprecedentedly and the number of states and races in the area increased greatly. The complicated relations among states and races confronted the Tang Dynasty with a series new problem in managing politics and military affairs in this area. In the light of this, the Dynasty adopted a set of political and military policies and strategies accordingly. The ruling of the Western Regions in this period ensured the stability of Tang Dynasty＇s western area, improved its international status, and promoted cultural and economic exchanges between China and foreign countries. Bat it brought a heavy financial burden to the central government, thus undermining the Fubing System and burying bane of separatist warlord regimes.
