摘要
为了选择最经济的推导式,降低句法推导的复杂性,Chomsky(1999,2001)提出句法推导应该基于语段进行。本文基于Chomsky(2005a,2005b,2006)的观点,综述语段及其中心语特征移交性理论,探针独立探测理论等;并简要评述语段理论在确定词汇提取范围等方面的优越性及其臻待完善之处。
Chomsky＇s Phase theory is motivated by the desire to select the most economical derivation and to reduce the complexity of syntactic derivation. This article is an introduction to Chomsky＇s recent thoughts on Feature-transfer from phase heads onto non-phase heads, and on independent operations of different probes within the same phase. A brief comment is made on the role of phases in defining the lexical arrays and subarrays. Some inadequacies are also discussed.
