The ecological footprint model is a measure of the degree of sustainable development indicators, which can quantitatively measure the human impact on nature environment. The method is used to calculate the ecological footprint from the facet of need and the ecological carrying capacity from the facet of support. Based on its results, the sustainable development situation of a country or an area can be evaluated. Based on the introduction to the con- cept and the calculation method of ecological footprint model, the authors calculated and analyzed the ecological footprints of Nanping City in 2005 according to the data of the statistical yearbooks of Nanping. According to the calculation, the ecological footprint and the ecological carrying capacity and the ecological deficit per capita of Nanping in 2005 were 1. 43320hm^2, 1. 40762 hm^2, 0. 02588 hm^2, The data shows that the human load has already stayed beyond the regional ecological capacity and the regional natural ecosystem is under great pressure of human activities. Furthermore this paper gave some strategies on the enhancement of ecological capacity of Nanping.
