Two well-known and respectful local governments---Nanzhao and Dali came into power in the region of Dali, Yunnan in Song Dynasty.Nanzhao period was the second peak of fortification in Yunnan,during which the number of city blocks built reached over 100,which laying a basic pattern and location of Yunnan province that have been used for more than 600 years.The country's defense system of Nanzhao consisted of the capital city,the guard cities,the goods transportation cities,the direct and control cities,the supervision cities, the local governments, the counties and the frontier junctures,etc.This defense system was inherited and used by the Dart government,which defeated Nan Zhao and came into power later.After the foundation of the People's Republic of China,archaeologists discovered and investigated from time to time the sites of Taihe City,Yangjumie City,Dengchuan City,Longkou City,Sanyang City, Longwei City, Longxutu Mountainous City and Baiya City,etc.These well-improved,coherent and unique defense systems tell stories to people about the past glory and prosperity of the local imperials---Nanzhao and Dali in Yunnan in ancient China.
