Reflection of the Inheritance in Furniture Design

我们经常看到有关呼吁家具设计要继承发扬民族传统文化的文章，而对此有些不解的是：家具生产厂家又屡屡推出似乎是自己设计的“仿古家具”、“民族家具”。到家具市场上测览一遍，看到的也无非是中式家具与当今的现代家具。那是不是一些专家、学者不看实际，而闭着眼睛杜撰一些无意义的文字呢？如果我们从更深的一层意义去考虑，答案也许不辩自明。

Errors have long existed in views of inheriting and carrying forward the national traditions in furniture design. Copying the ancient forms and structures with no regard of contemporary conditions and demands of modern man is a typical error. The presentation of the national culture should be done through specially designed products which naturally reveal the elegant demeanours and styles of the nation.
