In spite of their enduring popularity, Wilde's fairy tales have not drawn much critical attention. As a component of his literary practice, Wilde's fairy tales not only express Wilde's esthetical standing for pursuing the formal beauty and sensual pleasures, but also contain his reflections on his own experiences. The characters' image, plot and language show the hidden paradox of sensuality and redemption.
