男性和女性在语言的理解应用上在很多方面存在着差异。两性在认知世界，表达信息，交流思想时往往在话题的选择、话题数量的大小与话轮的控制等层面上采用不同的话语模式及不同的交际策略。依据学界的实证调查和理论解释，这一差异现象的背后折射了社会历史文化传统种种因素。对此现象进行系统的研究，有助于两性在社会活动中相互交往，促进社会和谐稳定地向前发展。

Men and women differ in many respects understanding and application of language. In the understanding of the world, dilivering of information and exchanges of ideas, they adopt different speech patterns and communication strategies in terms of topics, conversation eontroling and communicative strategies, which reflect various factors of traditions of social history and cultures. A systematic study of this phenomenon is helpful to the mutual understandings of men and women in social activities, and to the promotion of the harmonious and stable development of society.
