As a masterpiece of Black Humor Fictions, Joseph Heller's Catch-22 has been paid great attention to its ironic effect and humorous language expressions. However, few have been done on how various absurd linguistic forms make sense from cognitive perspective. This paper attempts to investigate the cognitive construct of the absurd fictional world via the cognitive properties and poetic functions of the foregmunded linguistic form -- negation within the framework of text world theory. The tragic life of the antiheroes is interpreted by way of their intense mental conflicts with the absurd world constructed by the military bureaucracy. The paper concludes that the fictional world of Catch-22 is an orderly mirror reversal plotted by military bureaucracy rather than a disorderly world out of control.
