The Study of Dong Zhongshu from Ten Aspects

董仲舒的思想有多个侧面,了解他不仅要通过他的言论、著作,更要结合他所生活的历史背景。思想家的言论有时不一定等同于其真实的倾向;董仲舒的某些在今天看来愚昧荒诞的见解,在2000年前的西汉也许有着相当的合理性。如何设身处地,通过综合的考量,发现董仲舒在文本以外潜藏的价值,应该是我们努力的方向之一。

The ideology of Dong Zhongshu has many aspects. The understanding of him requires not only the knowledge of his sayings and his works, but also that of the historical background of the society he lived in. The sayings of an ideologist are not necessarily true; some of Dong Zhongshu＇s ideas may seem fatuous and absurd today, but they were comparatively rational during Western Han Dynasty 2000 years ago. Finding Dong Zhongshu＇s hidden values beyond the texts about him through comprehensive study of him in his position is one of the efforts we should make.
