Stop in the Transformation: Unable to Complete the Process of Becoming Butterfly——On the growth subject of Hermann Hesse’s work Under Wheels

透过黑塞早期作品《轮下》凄楚哀婉的笔调,我们看到了主人公汉斯在人生成长过程中的孤独、迷茫、困惑和无助,这是人生无法逾越的一个阶段。外在的力量不能给汉斯正确的指引,内在的力量又过于柔弱,使他未能跨越成长的门槛。本文试从作品的叙事结构出发,从成长的引路人、成长的伙伴、成长的顿悟三个方面,探讨作品的成长主题。

Through the tragic, sorrowful writing style of Hesse＇s work, Under Wheels, we can find the loneliness, puzzlement, doubt and helplessness of the main character Hans. This was a stage of his life, which cannot be overstepped, because the outside strength could not direct Hans correctly, and the inside strength was too weak. This article, starting from the work＇s narrative structure, tries to discuss the growth subject of the work from three aspects： the guide of growth, the companion of growth and the consciousness of growth.
