摘要
美国文学中有关海的互文主题可以分为三个时期:浪漫主义时期的代表是惠特曼和麦尔维尔笔下的海,自然主义时期的代表是克莱恩笔下的海,现代主义时期的代表是海明威笔下的海。不同时期作家对海的态度,反映了人与自然关系的不同阶段,丰富了不同文学时期文学思潮的内涵。
From the perspective of intertextuality, this article analyses the intertextual themes about the sea in American literature. Meanwhile, this article illustrates some different images or symbols of the sea in American literature, including those that are created by Walt Whitman and Herman Melville in the Romantic period, by Stephen Crane in the Naturalism period and by Ernest Hemingway in the Modern period. The author of this article draws the conclusion that the attitudes toward sea by different writers in different periods reflect the different stages of the relationship between man and nature which have also spontaneously enriched the intension of literary trend of thoughts in different literary periods.
