Just as Westerners celebrate Christmas and the New Year, Chinese celebrate the Spring Festival (Chinese New Year). In fact, the Spring Festival is China's most important holiday. Although customs have always differed between the north and south, urban and rural areas and the older and younger generations, the Spring Festival has traditionally been an opportunity for family reunions and thanksgiving.
