The research developments and achievements of wood science and technology at the Chinese Academy of Forestry during the past 50 years are reviewed and summarized. Now, the Chinese Academy of Forestry is known as one of the premier forestry research institutions in the world with many knowledgeable scientists and advanced facilities. Reflecting on these achievements, new research areas and directions in wood science and technology are discussed in the study.
