Hypoxia is characteristic change of miscro - circumstances in tumor progression. Hypoxia inducible factor - 1 （ HIF - 1 ） is composed of α and β subunits, is a hypoxia transcriptional activator. Several target genes are regulated by HIF - 1, and the crucial role of HIF - 1 in tumor growth and apoptosis sparked many researchers. This paper presents a summary of hypoxia and the effects of HIF - 1 to apoptosis.
