Comparative Study on the Meaning of Chinese and English Important Festivals and Cross′cultural Communication

比较与分析了中西方主要传统节日的起源与文化习俗,讨论了中西方主要传统节日文化内涵、差异与相似之处。提出在英语教学过程中,要让学生了解中西方节日文化的背景知识和文化内涵的异同,帮助学生习得跨文化意识并增强其跨文化交际的能力,实质性地提高学生的英语语用能力。

This article analyses the origin and the meaning of both English and Chinese traditional festivals in order to point out the simi- larities and differences between traditional Chinese and English festivals. Besides, some advice is given on cross-cultural communication in the course of English teaching.
