Starting from the famous paper by S.Freud(1911),the author reviewed the integration of the pleasure principle and the reality principle in the growing process Reality was understood as social reality and volitional integration over time Neurosis or manifestations of conflict of the two principles originated from poor upbringing and early education.Reality,as an operational concept,was regarded as basic for various psychotherapies.The author explored four aspects of implications of reality:(1)facing one's internal reality to gain insight;(2)taking actions,participating social activities,esp.interpersonal communication;(3)being responsible to one's behavior and avoiding non commitment;(4)investing emotion (i.e.emotional involvement)in interpersonal interactions.
